Dear PhDs,

The 13th Seminar for young researchers on Labour Law and Social Law will take place at Wittenberg at the Martin Luther University from April 30th to May 3rd 2020. The day of arrival will be Thursday April 30th. We will be hosted by Professor Dr. Wolfhard Kohte and his team of the Martin Luther University. We have the pleasure to draw your attention to the call for participation and the call for abstracts to this seminar which is born in the context of the Network on European Labour and Social Law of Young Researchers.

The network is a platform promoting scientific discussion and cooperation between PhD-students and Post-Docs working in field of European Labour and Social (Security) Law. It is supported by senior experts and professors. One of the network’s key priorities is to promote European partnerships.

This year we are looking for presentations of projects of young researchers that concern

International Labour Law

European Employment, Labour and Social (Security) Law

Comparative Labour Law.

Proposals for presentations regarding one of these main research topics are welcome. We also accept proposals of candidates who began their PhD within the last year.

The presentations shall not be longer than 20 minutes and will be followed by a discussion with other participants and senior researchers. The papers will be written and presented in English as the discussions will be in English as well. Only a part of the participants will have the opportunity to present their research. The others will participate in the discussion and will operate as a discussant.

Persons interested in giving a presentation are kindly asked to submit an abstract of the subject they would like to present within March, 9th 2020  via e-mail to Wolfhard Kohte (kohte@jura.uni-halle.de) and to Teun Jaspers (a.p.c.m.jaspers@uva.nl) and a copy to József Hajdú (hajdu@juris.u-szeged.hu), Łukasz Pisarczyk (Łukaszpisarczyk@wp.pl) and Beryl ter Haar (b.p.ter.haar@law.leidenuniv.nl). Participants are free to submit a finished paper, but they are not obliged to do so. In case you plan to use a handout or a power-point-presentation we ask you to send it April, 15th 2020 the latest.

As to the persons interested in participation without presentation we kindly request to send their application within March, 21st 2020 via e-mail to Wolfhard Kohte (kohte@jura.uni-halle.de)and Teun Jaspers (a.p.c.m.jaspers@uva.nl) as well as a copy to József Hajdú (hajdu@juris.u-szeged.hu), Łukasz Pisarczyk (Łukaszpisarczyk@wp.pl) and Beryl ter Haar (b.p.ter.haar@law.leidenuniv.nl).

The number of participants is for organisational reasons limited to 30 persons in total of which the majority will be PhD students. Depending on the number of countries that will participate the number of PhD students will be limited to 2 or 3 per country. If places remain open it is possible for an extra PhD student or post-doc to participate. We strive to accept a mixture of new participants (PhDs and post-docs) and researchers who have been participated in a previous seminar. We kindly ask you to forward the call for participation to PhD-students and post-docs interested in presenting their research or in discussing topics of Labour and Social Law.

The Leucorea-foundation subsidises the seminar: therefore, lodging, lunches and a dinner can be provided free of charge. The participants have to pay €50,- per person. Travelling costs shall be paid by the participants or their universities. In case of problems financing your travelling costs please inform us and we will try to find alternative funding.

Please do not hesitate to contact us in the case you require any further information. You can send a mail to Wolfhard Kohte (kohte@jura.uni-halle.de) and Teun Jaspers (a.p.c.m.jaspers@uva.nl) and in cc to Beryl ter Haar (b.p.ter.haar@law.leidenuniv.nl).

We are looking forward to the seminar hoping for interesting exchanges of ideas and discussions.

Yours sincerely,

Wolfhard Kohte, Teun Jaspers, József Hajdú, Łukasz Pisarczyk, and Beryl ter Haa
