Dr. Tuğçe Yıldız, Assistant Green Transformation Coordinator and faculty member at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Türkiye, participated in the Erasmus+ Teaching Staff Mobility program on 18-19 November, delivering two engaging lectures at the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences at the University of Szeged.
Exploring the European Neighbourhood and Enlargement Policy
On the first day, Dr. Yıldız conducted a class for English Master in International Relations students on “The European Neighbourhood Policy: Strengths, Weaknesses, and Future Directions.” The session provided an in-depth analysis of the policy's evolution, its impacts on neighboring countries, challenges, and potential future directions.
Türkiye’s Path to the EU: A Seminar
On the second day, Dr. Yıldız presented a seminar titled “In or Out: Exploring Türkiye's Long and Winding Road to the European Union.” Open to the entire faculty, the seminar attracted a large audience and sparked vibrant discussions. Students posed thought-provoking questions and shared insightful comments about Türkiye’s EU membership prospects, demonstrating their keen interest in the topic. At a time when Türkiye-EU relations have largely stalled, the students’ engagement highlighted the enduring relevance of this critical subject.
Strengthening Academic Collaboration
Reflecting on her visit, Dr. Yıldız expressed admiration for the University of Szeged’s academic environment and her enjoyment of the city. She emphasized the significance of the recently established Erasmus+ agreement between Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University and the University of Szeged, which has been in effect for less than a year.
Dr. Yıldız extended her gratitude to the International and Regional Studies Institute for their warm welcome, particularly Dr. Anikó Szalai and Dr. Gizem Gültekin Várkonyi, for their exceptional hospitality. She invited the entire team to visit Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University within the framework of their bilateral agreements, highlighting the importance of strengthening collaboration between the two institutions.
