International Moot Court Competitions:

WTO MCC 2012The European Law Students' Association (ELSA) organizes annually the ELSA WTO Moot Court Competition (EMC2) that simulates the procedure of Dispute Settlement Mechanism of World Trade Organization (WTO) in a fictional case and what is open to student teams over the world. The Department trains student teams for years within the Scientific Student Group on Private International and International Economic Law (PIIEL SSG) for this English-language international moot court competition and many times the team of our Faculty represented the Hungarian colors on its European regional round.

ELMC"moot, meet and compete"

 

The European Law Moot Court Competition (ELMC) has become one of the largest and most respected international student moot court contests since its establishment in 1988. Besides its continuous and intensive development in Europe, now already regularly come student teams of universities in USA to compete as well. The location of this English and French-speaking European law-student competition varies each year. Its rank indicates by, that it enjoys official support of not only large international law firms, but also the European Council, the European Commission and the European Court of Justice.

Willem_C._VisThe goal of the Vis Arbitral Moot is to foster the study of international commercial law and arbitration for resolution of international business disputes through its application to a concrete problem of a client and to train law leaders of tomorrow in methods of alternative dispute resolution.

National Student Competitions:

OTDKThe National Scientific Student Conference (Országos Tudományos Diákköri Konferencia - OTDK) is a sixty-year-old higher educational scientific student movement, that has evolved as the most important and most effective form of talent management in Hungary. This is platform for self-, elite- and scientist-education, where the stimulating and democratic atmosphere around the outstanding scientists, masters gives the first experiences of scientific success for the talented students.

Internal Student Contests:

The Department launched annual case-solving student competitions with tradition-making purpose in the field of private international law in autumn semesters and in international trade law in spring semesters. The case can be solved by using the materials given in the curriculum (material of the lectures, compulsory literature), the applicable legislation is noted at the end of case. As awards, the three best resolution giving applicants gain certificate and extra points on examinations at the end of the semester. Solutions are welcome not only from the current students on the course, but anybody who would like to participate in the tournament.

Hallgatoi_verseny_Nemzetkozi_gazdasagi_kapcsolatok_jogabolThe Department of Private International Law in cooperation with the ELSA (European Law Students Association) launched a competition for teams composed by students in “International Studies” BA education program in the field of the "Introduction to international economic law" course. The contest is held annually in the autumn semester. The tasks of the competition are based not only on the course curriculum, but also on the students acquired knowledge in other related fields, professional literacy and practical skills encouraging the student teams to apply this knowledge in broader context in a playful way. The top three ranked team members gain advantages on the exam.
