2024. May 1., Wednesday

Introduction

We fully acknowledge that it is important for you to know what the French Master’s in International Relations Training Programme (Master en études internationales – MÉI) would bring you in the future.

In 2012, the pilot-year of MÉI was launched, focusing on European Studies in cooperation with SciencePo Lille (France). This speciality was followed by another one in 2015, Europe-Africa Development, in cooperation with Senghor University (Egypt). It means that we have double degree programmes with the above-mentioned universities.

The International and Regional Studies Institute (IRSI) of the Faculty and the Francophone University Centre of the University are responsible for the programme which two institutions offer a specialized curriculum for the students in European Studies, Economy and International Relations, with further emphasis on Law since this is the only Faculty of Law in the country that hosts such a training programme in French.

It is also worth mentioning that the University of Szeged is a dynamically expanding institution of higher education, which means that the number of foreign students choosing to study here is also increasing. Our future international students, therefore, will have the chance to build networks with students from all over the world.

Objectives

The main objective of the training programme is to train and prepare our graduates to be able to analyse and interpret international relations in both a practical and theoretical context, overarching many different fields such as diplomatic relations, political sciences, international public law, human rights protection, international trade and business, knowledge management and regarding many different aspects of the institutional and legal background of the European Union.

In a narrower context, our graduates shall also be able to deeply understand the current social, economic and legal processes in Central Eastern Europe by learning the history and theoretical concepts of it.

It is our priority to enhance skills that promote the comparative study of current institutional-legal and dispute resolution models as well as such institutional structures through an analytical point of view. Through the in-depth, comparative assessment of these different models and structures, our graduates shall have a better understanding of complex intra-institutional relations.
